Sammy Hagar Gets His Own Red Rocker

Part car and part motorcycle, the Tanom Motors Invader is already a pretty awesome road machine, but the Virginia-based company has teamed up with legendary rocker Sammy Hagar to create an even more unique version of this three-wheeler. The Red Rocker Edition of the Invader TC-3 will be unveiled at the SEMA Show next week, and playing off Hagar’s I Can’t Drive 55, only 55 of the special-edition models are being planned.

Trikes of the adult variety – as opposed to the immortal Big Wheel and its scores of imitators – seem to get a bum rap. Their owners are often stereotyped as being too feeble, lazy, fat or some combination of the three to ride a two-wheeled motorcycle. Worse still, the typical trike, whether it’s of the two-in-front-one-in-back or one-in-front-two-in-back persuasion, is designed more for leisurely touring than flying along serpentine mountain roads.

However, there are some motorized three-wheelers that won’t be mistaken for the transport of sixty-something retirees with inner ear problems. And the newest hot trike, the Tanom Motors Invader, definitely won’t be mistaken for a Hog with a rear axle kit.

Tanom Invader nearing production

With the clock ticking towards SEMA and launch of the production Tanom Invader, our manufacturing facility in Detroit is tooling up to produce the state of the art body panels for the Invader. To mass produce the Invader body, Tanom has selected the RTM (Resin Transfer Molding) and RIM (Reaction Injection Molding) manufacturing processes. These body panels are made utilizing the same technology featured in modern F-1 and Indy-Car construction, making them super light weight and incredibly strong. In addition, the hood, roof, front fenders and storage compartment doors will be available in optional Carbon Fiber.

Touting innovative formula one inspired suspension that incorporates Elka shocks and Wilwood brakes, the Invader carves though turns with surgical precision. Putting all of Invaders power to the ground is no small feat and it requires the grip of the a largest production tire. The massive 18-inch wide by 20” diameter Mickey Thompson rear tire is coupled to a light weight custom billet three piece rim and aluminum swing arm with a fully adjustable mono-shock suspension.

Utilizing our unique reverse trike layout, the Invader allows a driver and passenger to sit in side-by-side comfort surrounded by the safety of a full steel roll cage. Beneath its silky skin there is a 197-horse power engine capable of pushing it from 0 to 60 mph in less than four seconds and a top speed of 150 mph. The Invader’s short 96” wheelbase rides on a fully adjustable double wishbone formula one inspired, suspension equipped. It’s further complemented with incredible stopping power provided by four piston Wilwood brake calipers.
